Happy Holidays Everyone!

What better way to kick off this month of gifts and hoiday happiness than by sharing books. And exclusive teasers and deleted scenes?? There is no better way, right? (Well, unless that way involves cookie recipes–see this post).

Welcome to Entangled Teen’s 12 Days of Kickass Christmas!!

My fellow authors and I are joining together to share some exclusive content with y’all! There will be 2 teams, The Smartass Team who will post a good or swoon worthy deleted scene or an excerpt, and The Badass Team who will post a villainous deleted scene or excerpt. And the cool part is we’re posting on each other’s blogs!

This party lasts from today, December 2nd, and goes thru December 13th! We’ll wrap up the event with our monthly twitter party on December 13th 9 PM EST/6 PM PST. Each day will have 2 posts from us along with an EPIC giveaway!

Now, Ready for the fun stuff??kendra

For my stop, I’m hosting the FABULOUS Kendra C. Highley. A fellow Texan, Kendra is happily married with two children and serves as staff to two self-important and high-powered cats. This, according to the cats, is her most critical job. She believes in everyday magic, extraordinary love stories and the restorative powers of dark chocolate. <–My kind of girl!

She’s also the author of the Matt Archer series.

And now for what you came here for… the yumminess:

sidelined

Sidelined

After being pushed to excel her entire life, high school basketball star Genna Pierce is finally where she wants to be. University scouts are taking notice, her team is on its way to the state tourney, and Jake Butler, the hot boy she’s daydreamed about since ninth grade, is showing somedefinite interest. When he asks her out and their relationship takes off, Genna believes things can’t get better.

Then, it’s over.

A freak accident ends her career before it’s even begun. Her parents are fighting more than ever, her friends don’t understand what she’s going through, and she’s not sure who she is without basketball. And while he tries to be there for her, Genna doesn’t understand how Jake could ever want the broken version of the girl he fell for.

Her life in a tailspin, Genna turns to the only solace that eases her pain: Vicodin.

Awesome, right? Ready for the excerpt???

Mornings at school are like a country music marathon—twangy and full of unhappy choruses—with no chance of escape. The last-minute scrounging of homework, the group of sophomores gathering around a friend who was dumped, the sound of our vice principal, Mr. McKesson, bellowing, “All right, people, get to class!”

I’d say it’s all music to my ears, but I’d be lying.

I’m on my way to calc, worrying about a quiz later in French, when I become very aware of someone walking next to me. Like in-my-personal-space next to me. The tingle at the base of my neck tells me who it is even before I turn my head.

Jake’s poster-boy grin is a hell of a sight on a dreary Friday. “Walk you to class?”

“I think you already are,” I say.

He doesn’t do anything quite so bold as take my books, but it’s obvious I’m being escorted. Too many times, the guys I date assume I don’t care about this stuff because I’m an athlete and not “girly.” It’s nice Jake doesn’t buy into that theory.

He bumps me lightly with his hip and shivers run down my back. “So when’s the big game?”

I give him a funny look. “State’s in a week.”

Jake laughs. “I meant the cage match with Prenderville.”

“Don’t know, don’t care,” I say. “I’m going to win, though.”

“I never had any doubt about that,” he says. “But you are pretty scary when you’re mad.”

I crinkle my nose. “Thanks, I think.”

He gives me a sidelong look. “Just promise never to get that mad at me.”

“Not as long as you behave,” I say, trying to sound prim and proper.

Jake edges me toward the end of a bank of lockers and stands right in front of me, so that we’re almost touching. He’s warm, and his breath whispers against my neck. I briefly wonder how many people are watching this little hallway seduction, but not for long, especially when his chest brushes ever so slightly against mine, sending shock waves down to my knees.

With a slow smile that might be able to melt the polar ice cap, he says, “Define…behave.”

“Uh…” Flustered, I blurt out, “Nothing below the belt.”

I clamp my mouth shut. Did I really just say that? Out loud?

Jake laughs. “I love how direct you are. Most girls never say what they’re thinking.” Then he leans in close to whisper in my ear. “As for behaving…that still leaves plenty of territory.”

I’m sure my cheeks are as pink as my fuchsia Chuck Ts. Thank God the warning bell rings, because my mouth’s open but nothing’s coming out.

“You better go in.” He brushes the hair out of my face and I resist shivering…barely. “I wouldn’t want to make you late.”

I snort, wondering what he’s implying. “I bet you say that to all the girls.”

Jake’s eyes go wide. “Uh, not that way.”

“Good.” I slide past him, daring to brush my hip against his. “Better go. See you tonight?”

He shoots me another cocky grin. “Yeah. I’ll pick you up at six.”
