Now, I love the holidays, as we’ve well established. And it was hard to choose between my dip, appetizer, and drink recipes. But there’s just one holiday treat that we look forward to year after year.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we all do!!

HOMEMADE AMARETTO

  • 3 Cups Sugar
  • 2 Cups Water
  • Peel of 1 Lemon
  • 6 Tsp. Almond Extract
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tsp. Chocolate Extract
  • 3 Cups 100 Proof Vodka

Combine the first three ingredients above and bring to a full boil. Turn the heat down to a simmer for twenty minutes. Cool completely, then add the last four ingredients. Mix well, place in a pretty bottle, and consume with a big old grin.

YUM!!!

Seven-Day FiancĂ© by Rachel HarrisAnother drink that I haven’t yet made myself, but love to consume any time (not just the holidays) is the famous New Orleans Hurricane.

This drink is often featured in my Love & Games series. In Taste the Heat, Jason brings it in one of my favorite scenes (blindfold anyone?), and it brings an onslaught of memories for Colby. In Seven Day Fiance, poor Angelle consumes one or two too many, and ends up in quite a pickle at the bachelor auction featuring a shirtless Cane. And while Sherry’s yet-to-be-titled book coming Spring 2014 is still in the drafting stages, I can pretty much assure you that this drink will make a yummy appearance.

Now that Christmas is over, my family is gearing up for our New Years Eve tradition…it involves a lot of yummy treats, a few tasty beverages, and a board game decathlon!!
