My Sappy Gratitude Post In Which I Get All Sappy

Posted by rachelha in Makes ME, Writing Life / Leave a Comment

I posted the following on Facebook this morning, and had to come here to share it as well. I meant when I said, thank you really isn’t enough–but believe it, it is extremely heartfelt.

If you’re reading this, consider yourself virtually hugged 🙂

**Warning: Sappy Gratitude Post Commencing…Now**

I’m staring at my computer screen, honestly in shock.

When I first got word that A Tale of Two Centuries was going to be the Romance Kindle Daily Deal, I *hoped* people would see it. That they would perhaps buy it and fall in love with this fun, romantic story that I personally love so much.

But, I kept my expectations low.

So many fabulous books are released on Tuesdays, and while I LOVE my fish-out-of-water, flip flopped time travel tale, it’s been out for five months. Not to mention the first book, My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, which has been out for almost a year and a half.

Still, I hoped.

Then I came to Facebook and asked all of you to help share the word about my sale. I turned to my FLIPPING FABULOUS street team, the Flirt Squad, and asked them to spread the word, too. I had fabulous author friends cheering me on, telling their readers. And I watched my little book climb the charts.

And climb the charts.

And then take it’s big sister, My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, with it.

And at a certain point in the day, right around when it went below 100, I shook my head, tears in my eyes, and SQUEALED. No lie, I scared my poor children, and my sweet puppy dog. I knocked over my chair and started shaking my booty–and there’s a lot of booty to shake, y’all.

My girls and I did the conga around the house, we had a Fiesta snack, and my girls dressed up all fancy dancy because, “People like mama’s book!!!!”

My husband took us out for dinner, and I said “screw it” to my new, lovely Weight Watchers diet for a night, and had TWO cookies. Yep. And some wine. Oh yes, I did.

Because A Tale of Two Centuries had reached #26 on Amazon, and My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century had reached #1094. I had an actual AUTHOR Rank (#10 in Teen Books, #41 in Kindle eBooks Romance, and #80 in Kindle eBooks). I don’t think that’s happened for me before. And I even went below 1,000 at Barnes and Noble.

This was by FAR my best sales day EVER, and I’ve been blessed.

** Thank you is just not a strong enough response, but it’s heartfelt. **

Thank you for making my day so fabulous.

Thank you for making my beautiful children so proud of their mama.

Thank you for taking a chance on this book that I love so much, and for your sweet words throughout the day.

Thank you to my amazing, loyal, fantabulous Flirt Squad–you are more than readers and bloggers, you are true friends, and I’m blessed to share this journey with you.

And thank you to all my dear author friends who took time out of their crazy busy days to give my book some love.

I adore you all. You make my heart happy. Much, much, much love.
