WELCOME TO THE HUNT!!

This is the YA Scavenger Hunt, a tri-annual event first organized by the fabulous Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes!

At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are TWO contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE TEAM–but there is also a red team for a chance to win a whole different set of twenty-five signed books!

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.

Now… Meet Lucy Connors!

Today, I’m stoked to host LUCY CONNORS, a flipping fabulous author who seems to have her hands in everything. Don’t believe me? Check out her awesome bio:

LUCY CONNORS is the YA pseudonym of Alesia Holliday, winner of Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA Award for excellence in romantic fiction. As Alyssa Day, she is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of paranormal romance novels series. And now for your EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

WHAT HAPPENS when the teenage heirs of two bitterly feuding families can’t stay away from each other? Victoria and Mickey are about to find out the most passionate romances are the forbidden ones. Horse racing, drug dealing, and a century-old-feud reignited combine to set Kentucky on fire and send two teens on a collision course with their families, the law . . . and each other.

Victoria

The angry redhead who was almost wearing a bikini top, and who’d squeezed her butt into tiny shorts three sizes too small for her, reached us first and made a big show of looking me up and down.

“Ah, did little Mick bring us a city girl to play with?” she drawled.  “Isn’t she afraid to get her fancy dress and special shoes dirty?  Or will Mommy and Daddy just buy her new ones?”

“Stay away from Victoria, Linda,” Mickey said, but both of us ignored him.

I gave Linda an enormous fake smile and returned the once-over, making sure my gaze lingered on her filthy bare feet.

“If I do go shopping, you’re welcome to come along,” I offered, summoning up courage I’d never had before.  “Maybe if we have enough time, I’ll be able to teach you how to buy clothes that actually fit.”

I realized I’d gone too far the minute I’d said it, though.  This wasn’t the horse world of polite bitchiness.  The redhead actually sprang at me, her acrylic fingernails extended into claws, but the guy who’d walked up behind her casually grabbed her around the waist and lifted her off the ground.

The newcomer, who had to be another Rhodale a few years older than Mickey, grinned at me.  “So the princess has teeth, does she?  Any good at poker?”

I could feel Mickey’s gaze on me, hot and tangible as a touch.

“Well, we usually only play chess in the palace, but I think I could manage to learn your little old card game,” I said, making sure he knew I was mocking him.  Hoping my knees weren’t shaking as hard as I thought they were.  “Texas Hold’em, deuces wild, ten-dollar minimum?”

The new guy, still holding Linda as if she weighed nothing, threw back his head and laughed, and Ethan joined in.

“Victoria, meet Jeb.  My other brother,” Mickey said, tightening his grip on my hand.

As the others headed back to the party, I started to follow but Mickey pulled me to a stop.

“Aces wild, huh?”  He bent down and kissed me so fast I didn’t have time to move away, even if I’d wanted to escape the hottest kiss I’d ever had in my life.

“I have a feeling that’s not all that’s wild around here today,” he said, his lips curving into a seductive smile that probably melted a quarter of my brain cells and left me staring at him like a lovesick idiot.

I finally took a deep breath and tried to make words happen.  Brave words.  What would be the opposite of what ordinary, shy Victoria would do?  Right.  She’d actually stay here for the picnic.

“Just remember, this was your idea.  Let’s go drink moonshine and eat possum, or whatever it is you hillbillies do for fun,” I said, pulling him after me toward the spot where Jeb and the others had disappeared over the rise.

“One of the best ideas I’ve had in a long time,” he said, grinning. “I am in so much trouble.”

I glanced up at him, but he didn’t seem to be worried by the idea.  More like delighted.  I had a sudden strange feeling that one of us was indeed in trouble, but that it wasn’t him.

For some reason, the thought didn’t bother me at all.

WOOT!! I love these hunts!! 🙂

Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by ME, LUCY, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is Sixteen. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the blue team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!
